Newcastle Clinic runs a pharmacist-led weight management service at Great Park. It starts with a consultation and eligibility check, where we go through your health history, your measurements and what you have already tried, and tell you honestly whether treatment is appropriate for you. Any treatment is prescription only and is discussed at that appointment.

Do you qualify?

Check where you sit in about twenty seconds

Weight-loss treatment is only appropriate above certain thresholds. Put your height and weight in and we will show you your BMI against current NICE guidance. Nothing is stored and no email is needed.

Calculate your BMI

Enter your height and weight to see your BMI and where you sit.

This is general guidance, not a diagnosis, and BMI on its own is a blunt measure. Eligibility and suitability are confirmed by the pharmacist at your consultation.

What the criteria actually are

  • A BMI of 30 or above
  • Or a BMI of 27 to 29.9 with at least one weight-related health condition
  • Aged 18 or over
  • Not pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive
  • No current or previous eating disorder

How it works

Three steps, and the first one is a conversation

1

Consultation and eligibility

Health history, current medicines, measurements and goals. We check the clinical criteria with you rather than around you, and it takes about 30 minutes.

2

An honest recommendation

If treatment is appropriate we explain what it involves and what it costs. If it is not, we say so and suggest what would actually help instead.

3

Reviews that keep going

Regular check-ins with the same pharmacist to see how you are getting on, adjust the plan and pick up problems early.

The consultation
Freefor the eligibility check and plan

Any treatment is a prescription only medicine, supplied after your consultation and only where it is clinically appropriate. We discuss the options and what they cost at that appointment. We do not advertise prescription medicine prices, and clinics that do are breaking the rules.

Suitability

When this is right, and when it is not

We would rather tell you now than take a booking we cannot help with.

Come and talk to us
  • You have tried diet and activity changes without lasting results
  • You want clinical supervision rather than an online form and a delivery
  • You want your existing conditions and medicines taken into account
  • You want regular reviews with the same person, not a one-off transaction
This is not the right service
  • Anyone under 18
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive
  • A current or previous eating disorder, where this is not the right support
  • A BMI below the clinical thresholds, which we check with you

If you are struggling with food in a way that worries you, please speak to your GP. That is a different kind of help and it matters more than anything on this page.
