Your nearest travel clinic, seven minutes up Brunton Lane

If you live in Kingston Park, we are almost certainly the closest travel clinic to you. It is 1.8 miles along Brunton Lane and then north into Great Park, about seven minutes, with free parking directly outside the door. That proximity is the point. A travel appointment stops being something you have to take half a day off for, and becomes something you do between the school run and work.

The nearest travel clinic to Kingston Park

Kingston Park is the closest place on our list, and it is not close in the way pages usually mean it. It is 1.8 miles. Along Brunton Lane and then north into Great Park, and you are here in about seven minutes. That is shorter than most people's supermarket run, and it changes what a travel appointment is: an errand, not a trip.

It is a residential estate built up from the 1980s onwards around the retail park and the Falcons rugby ground, and the population reflects that. Young families, first-time buyers, people with school-age children and jobs that do not bend easily. Around six thousand people, most of them within a few minutes of our door.

Built around the school run, not around us

The hardest part of a family travel appointment is rarely the appointment. It is getting four people into the same room on the same afternoon during term time. Being seven minutes away solves most of that. You can come after drop-off, at lunchtime, or on the way back from Kingston Park Metro without rearranging the week around it.

We plan whole families in one appointment, so children, parents and grandparents travelling together end up on the same schedule for the same flight rather than in three separate appointments producing three different timelines. If children are being vaccinated, bring their red book or whatever immunisation record you have, because a fair amount of what they need may already be covered by the routine NHS schedule and there is no sense repeating it.

What a travel consultation actually involves

A travel appointment here is a proper risk assessment, not a form and a needle. A pharmacist goes through your itinerary against current NaTHNaC and WHO country advice, looks at your health history, and works out what applies to your trip specifically rather than to the country in general.

  • Where you are going, in what order, and how long you are staying in each place.
  • When you travel, because season changes the risk in a lot of destinations.
  • What you will actually be doing there, since city hotels, rural work and outdoor travel are three different assessments.
  • What you have already had, and when, so nothing is repeated unnecessarily.
  • Your health history and any regular medicines, which can affect what is suitable.

We hold Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, Tetanus, Rabies, Meningitis ACWY, Japanese Encephalitis, Cholera and Polio in stock, so in most cases what you need can be given on the day. Where a destination calls for antimalarial tablets, we will explain whether they apply to you and what taking them involves. Antimalarial tablets are prescription-only medicines and are subject to assessment.

How far ahead to come in

Six to eight weeks before departure is the comfortable window, because a few courses need more than one dose spaced weeks apart. Later than that is still worth doing. We will give what can safely be given on the day and tell you plainly what is still outstanding, rather than turning you away. No vaccine offers complete protection, so we also cover the practical things that reduce risk while you are away, such as insect bite avoidance, food and water care, and what to do if you are bitten or scratched by an animal.

What to bring

Bring your itinerary, including internal flights and any stopovers, a record of vaccinations you have had before if you have one, and a list of any medicines you take. You do not need a GP referral. For current rates, see our booking page.

Why Kingston Park travellers choose us

Proximity changes what is realistic, and that is the honest case for this page. When a course needs a second dose a few weeks later, the deciding factor for most families is whether coming back is a hassle. From Kingston Park it is seven minutes and free parking, so a two-visit schedule is genuinely doable rather than something you talk yourself out of. We will always tell you at the first appointment whether a second visit is needed and exactly when it should be.

It also means late questions are easy. If your plans change, if you find out a week before you fly that you are adding a country, or if you simply want to check something in person, popping in is a small thing from NE3 rather than an afternoon.

And there is no GP referral and no waiting list. Families booking a summer holiday in April do not want to be told the first available NHS travel appointment is in June. Book directly with us, tell us where you are all going, and we will sort the schedule around your departure date.

Getting to Unit 5, Middleton North from Kingston Park

Take Brunton Lane and then head north into Newcastle Great Park. We are at Unit 5, Middleton North, Wagonway Drive, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE13 9BH. It is 1.8 miles and roughly seven minutes by car.

There is free patient parking directly outside the door, which for a family arriving with children and a pushchair is the difference between a straightforward visit and a stressful one. Park, walk in, and most people are done inside half an hour. Kingston Park Metro is your local stop, though at under two miles almost everyone drives or gets dropped off.

If you are not sure what your family needs before you book, call 0191 447 3839 and tell us the destination and the dates. It is a short conversation, and it is usually enough to tell you whether one appointment will cover it.

What you get

What the appointment covers

One appointment, an honest answer, and no upsell on things you do not need.

Destination risk assessment

An itinerary-specific review against current NaTHNaC and WHO advice, not a generic checklist. Where you are going, when, for how long, and what you will actually be doing there.

The travel vaccines people actually need

Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, Tetanus, Rabies, Meningitis ACWY, Japanese Encephalitis, Cholera and Polio, held in stock.

Hajj and Umrah certificates

Meningitis ACWY administered and certified the same day, which is what a Saudi visa application asks for.

Antimalarial advice

Whether your destination needs antimalarial tablets, and what taking them involves. Antimalarials are prescription-only medicines and are subject to assessment.

Families and groups

Children, couples and whole families planned together, so everyone travels on the same schedule rather than in three separate appointments.

One appointment where possible

We give what can safely be given on the day and tell you plainly if a course needs a second visit, rather than booking you back in by default.

How it works

Three steps from booking to travelling

Book, come in, get what you need. Most people are done inside half an hour.

01

Book online or call

Pick a slot and tell us where you are going, when, and for how long. It helps to know your rough itinerary, not just the country.

02

Come to Great Park

Unit 5, Middleton North, Wagonway Drive, NE13 9BH. Free parking directly outside. A pharmacist goes through your itinerary, your health history and what you have had before, then tells you what you need and what you do not.

03

Vaccinated and on your way

Most people are done inside half an hour. You leave knowing what was given, what is still due, and what to do about anything that needs a second dose.

Why Kingston Park travellers choose us

Kingston Park is the closest town on our list, 1.8 miles and about seven minutes along Brunton Lane and then north. It is a young-family estate built up from the 1980s around the retail park and the Falcons ground, and a travel appointment here is genuinely an errand rather than a trip. That matters when you are fitting one around school pick-up and a working day.
